Cookie Policy

Who we are: REMEDY LEGAL TECHNOLOGY LTD ("Remedy", "we", "us"), a company registered in England and Wales. Company number 16535799. Registered office: Flat 1, 40 Leverton Street, London, England, NW5 2PG. Contact: hello@remedylegal.ai.

This Cookie Policy explains how we use cookies and similar technologies on our public website (the Site) and in our logged-in web application (the Platform). It sits alongside our Privacy Policy.

Plain-English summary: We use a few strictly necessary cookies to keep you signed in and the service secure. We also use product analytics (PostHog) to understand and improve Remedy, and, inside the logged-in Platform, session replay to diagnose problems. Analytics and session replay are off until you consent, and you can change your choice at any time through our cookie banner. We do not use advertising or cross-site tracking cookies.

1) What are cookies and similar technologies?

Cookies are small text files placed on your device by sites you visit. Similar technologies include local storage, pixels, and software development kits (SDKs). Some are strictly necessary for a service to work; others are non-essential and used for things like analytics.

Under UK law (PECR), we can use strictly necessary cookies without consent. For non-essential cookies and similar technologies, we ask for your consent before setting them.

2) Our consent banner and how to change your choices

When you first visit, we show a cookie banner where you can Accept, Reject, or Customise non-essential technologies. Your choice is remembered and applies across our subdomains (the Site and the Platform). You can change or withdraw your choice at any time by reopening the cookie preferences from the banner.

Our consent tool also respects the Global Privacy Control (GPC) browser signal: if your browser sends GPC, we treat that as a signal to keep non-essential analytics off.

3) Strictly necessary cookies

These are required for the service to work and do not need consent. The main one is your sign-in session cookie, set only when you log in to the Platform:

CookiePurposeTypeRetention
better-auth.session_token (prefixed __Secure- in production)Keeps you signed in and routes your requests securely. HttpOnly, Secure, SameSite=Lax.First-party, strictly necessaryUp to 7 days
Consent-preference storageRemembers your cookie choices so we do not ask every visit. Stored in your browser's local storage.First-party, strictly necessaryUp to 12 months

We may also set short-lived cookies for security and load balancing where needed. We do not use strictly necessary cookies for advertising or cross-site tracking.

If you only browse the public Site and do not log in, the sign-in session cookie is not set.

4) Analytics and product-improvement technologies (consent required)

With your consent, we use PostHog, a product-analytics platform, to understand how Remedy is used so we can improve it. Our PostHog instance is hosted in the EU, and analytics traffic is routed through our own first-party domain. With your consent, PostHog sets cookies and uses local storage to recognise your browser across pages and visits.

TechnologyPurposeTypeRetention
PostHog analytics cookies and local storage (for example ph_* / __ph_*)Measure page views, feature usage, and product performance using a pseudonymous identifier. Shared across remedylegal.ai subdomains.First-party (via our proxy), analyticsUp to 12 months
PostHog session replay (Platform only)Records anonymised playback of app sessions to help us diagnose bugs and usability problems. Form inputs are masked, content marked sensitive is masked, and authentication headers are stripped, so the replay does not capture your passwords or session tokens.First-party, analyticsSee PostHog retention in our Privacy Policy

We configure these tools to minimise personal data: we identify you to PostHog only by a pseudonymous account identifier, not by your name, email, or phone number. Analytics and session replay only run after you consent (the "measurement" category in the banner); if you reject or have not chosen, they stay off.

5) Advertising and cross-site tracking

We do not currently use advertising cookies, marketing pixels, or cross-site tracking technologies (for example Google Analytics, Google Ads, Meta Pixel, or LinkedIn Insight Tag). If we introduce any in future, we will add a "marketing" choice to the banner and ask for your consent first, and we will update this page.

6) Managing cookies in your browser

In addition to our banner, you can control cookies through your browser settings (block, delete, or limit cookies). Instructions are available from your browser provider. Blocking or deleting strictly necessary cookies may stop the Platform working properly when you are logged in.

7) Changes to this policy

We will update this page if we introduce new cookies or change the technologies we use, and we will refresh the date above. If a change is significant, we may also show an in-app or on-site notice.
