117(2)

An officer of a local authority shall not, under colour of his office or employment, accept any fee or reward whatsoever other than his proper remuneration.

117(3)

Any person who contravenes the provisions of subsection (1) or (2) above shall be liable on summary conviction to a fine not exceeding level 4 on the standard scale.

117(4)

References in this section to a local authority shall include references to a corporate joint committee and to a joint committee appointed under Part VI of this Act or any other enactment.

117(5)

In the application of this section to a corporate joint committee—

(a) the reference in subsection (1) to any committee of an authority is to be read as a reference to any sub-committee of the corporate joint committee, and

(b) section 95 of this Act is to be treated as if it applies to a corporate joint committee as it applies to another authority for the purposes of this section.
