Section 35: Community councillors.

35(1)

Community councillors shall be elected by the local government electors for the community in accordance with this Act and Part I of the Representation of the People Act 1983.

35(2)

There shall be ordinary elections of community councillors in 2022 and in every fifth year thereafter.

35(2A)

The term of office of the community councillors shall be five years.

35(2B)

On the fourth day after any such ordinary election—

(a) the persons who were councillors immediately before the election shall retire; and

(b) the newly elected councillors shall assume office.

35(3)

Where a community is not divided into community wards there shall be one election of community councillors for the whole community.

35(4)

Where a community is divided into community wards there shall be a separate election of community councillors for each ward.
