Section 78: Cable burning.

78(1)

A person who burns insulation from a cable with a view to recovering metal from the cable shall be guilty of an offence under this subsection unless the burning is part of a process subject to Part I of the Environmental Protection Act 1990 or the place at which he does so is a work registered in pursuance of section 9 of the Alkali Act.

78(2)

A person who contravenes the provisions of the preceding subsection shall be guilty of an offence and liable on summary conviction to a fine not exceeding level 5 on the standard scale;
