Without prejudice to the generality of section 111 of the Housing Act 1957 or section 1(2) of the Housing Rents and Subsidies (Scotland) Act 1975 (power to make reasonable charges for accommodation provided by a local authority), a housing authority may require a person towards whom they were subject to a duty under section 3(4), 4 or 5 above—

(a) to pay such reasonable charges as they may determine in respect of any accommodation which they secure for his occupation (either by making it available themselves or otherwise); or

(b) to pay such reasonable amount as they may determine in respect of sums payable by them for accommodation made available to him by another person.
