Section 86B: Rules to be made if required by Lord Chancellor

Part III: PRACTICE AND PROCEDURE — : Rules of Court

This section applies if the Lord Chancellor gives the Lord Chief Justice written notice that he thinks it is expedient for Crown Court rules to include provision that would achieve a purpose specified in the notice.

The Lord Chief Justice must make such Crown Court rules as the Lord Chief Justice considers necessary to achieve the specified purpose.

Those rules must be—

made within a reasonable period after the Lord Chancellor gives notice to the Lord Chief Justice;
made in accordance with section 86A.
