Section 1A: Buildings of special historical or architectural interest

Part I: Building Regulations

In making building regulations the appropriate national authority shall have regard, in particular, to the desirability of preserving the character of protected buildings that are of special historical or architectural interest.

In this section "protected buildings" means—

listed buildings within the meaning of the Planning (Listed Buildings and Conservation Areas) Act 1990 (see section 1(5) of that Act) or the Historic Environment (Wales) Act 2023 (see section 76 of that Act); and
buildings situated in areas designated as conservation areas under section 69 of the Planning (Listed Buildings and Conservation Areas) Act 1990 or under section 158 of the Historic Environment (Wales) Act 2023.
