There shall be a body corporate to be known as the Coal Authority (in this Act referred to as "the Authority") for the purpose of—
The Authority shall consist of not less than two nor more than eight members appointed by the Secretary of State.
The Secretary of State shall designate one of the members appointed under this section as the chairman of the Authority and may, if he thinks fit, designate another such member as its deputy chairman.
In appointing a person to be a member of the Authority, the Secretary of State shall have regard to the desirability of appointing a person who has experience of, and has shown capacity in, some matter relevant to its functions.
The Authority shall not be regarded—
and the Authority's property shall not be regarded as property of, or property held on behalf of, the Crown.
The provisions of Schedule 1 to this Act shall have effect with respect to the Authority and its finances.
