Section 312: Character and coverage of sound broadcasting services

Part 3: Television and Radio Services ETC — Chapter 4: Regulatory provisions

Section 106 of the 1990 Act (requirements as to character and coverage of local and national radio services) shall be amended as follows.

In subsection (1), the words from "except" onwards shall be omitted.

After subsection (1) (duty to ensure character preserved subject to departures that do not restrict service) there shall be inserted—

For subsection (5) (restriction on power to extend licence to new area or locality) there shall be substituted—

After subsection (6) of that section there shall be inserted—
