Section 198: When a youth rehabilitation order is in force

Sentencing Act 2020 · 2020 c. 17View on legislation.gov.uk

Part 9: Community sentences — CHAPTER 1: Youth rehabilitation orders

A youth rehabilitation order takes effect at the beginning of the day on which it is made.

But a court making a youth rehabilitation order may order that it is to take effect instead on a later date (and see, in particular, section 181(1)).

A youth rehabilitation order is in force for the period—

beginning when it takes effect, and
ending—
with the end date, or
if later, when the offender has completed any unpaid work requirement imposed by the order.

But a youth rehabilitation order ceases to be in force when it is revoked.

An unpaid work requirement is completed when the offender has worked under it for the number of hours specified in the order.
