Section 9: Remission or release of prisoners etc from hospital: treatment condition

In the Mental Health Act 1983, in the following places, for “effective” substitute —“appropriate medical”

• section 50(1) (prisoners under sentence); section 51(3)(b) and (4)(b) (detained persons); section 52(5)(b) (persons remanded by magistrates’ courts); section 53(2)(b) (civil prisoners and persons detained under the Immigration Acts).
