Section 36: Short title, interpretation, commencement, extent and repeals

Part III: Miscellaneous and General

This Act may be cited as the Housing Act, 1961.

Save where the context otherwise requires, references in this Act to any enactment shall be construed as references to that enactment as amended by or under any other enactment, including this Act.

This Act shall come into force on the expiration of a period of one month beginning with the day on which it is passed.

This Act shall not extend to Scotland or Northern Ireland.

The Acts mentioned in the Fourth Schedule to this Act shall be repealed to the extent specified in the third column of that Schedule.
